Over time your air conditioner hvac drain pipe gets clogged up and starts dripping because of the mold mildew and algae buil.
Then attach the suction hose of a wet vac to the line and try to suck the clog out.
If the unit has turned off due to a blockage you may need a bucket to collect the condensation resting in the drain pan.
There are two methods to clean out your air conditioning drain line.
Vacuuming will be more effective if you have a partner plug up the other end of the line.
Alternatively you can use an air compressor to blast air into the air handler s end of the drain tube in the hopes of blowing the clog out the other end.
If you can separate the cleanout from the ac or block the path of water back to the ac drain pan you can insert the cut off garden hose into the drain line as shown in this video and just gush.
You can find the cut off switch for the ac unit in the main circuit breaker.
Once the drain line is clear use a funnel to slowly pour a gallon of white vinegar through the tube.
Kill the power for the air conditioner where you will be blowing air through the drain line.
If the clog is severe start with method 2.
Move the switch to the off setting.
Turn hvac system off.
If that doesn t solve the problem locate the drain line access point near your indoor air handler.
For this to work well you need to make a tight connection between the hose and the line.
Method 1 for small blockages in the ac drain line.
Place a piece of tape over the switch so it isn t turned on while you are working.
